Rustic Bread

Who doesn’t like bread? You know when every diet plan eliminates bread, it has to be the greatest thing since…well…sliced bread. Mrs. Wood swears by bread, and you don’t need anything fancy to be satisfied. This recipe is a simple, delicious way to make bread with minimal difficulty. In Nefarious Notions, Mrs. Wood serves it still warm from the oven with her soup. I ask you, what is better than warm fresh bread to go along with a bowl of hot soup?

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cup All purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup lukewarm water

  1. Stir flour, salt, yeast together
  2. Add water and stir until shaggy dough
  3. Cover (no grease) with plastic wrap
  4. Sit room temp 8-24 hrs
  5. Oven 450 and put in Dutch oven (or French White Baker) to heat up
  6. Turn out dough on floured surface and form into ball (flour hands)
  7. Cover loosely with plastic wrap 30 mins
  8. Transfer ball to Dutch oven
  9. Cover bake 30 mins
  10. Uncover bake 7-15 mins
